• Historic-centre ZTL: closing hours

  From 9 to 21 October 2026 (ordinance no. 355), Assisi's historic-centre ZTL is closed to unauthorised vehicles on Sundays, holidays and the days before them 11:00–20:00, and on weekdays other than Saturday 11:00–12:30 and 15:30–17:30. Five electronic gates record entries; their trial phase ran from 15 January to 15 July 2026, and the hours change with periodic ordinances.

• Hotel and B&B guests in the ZTL

  Guests of hotels and other accommodation in the centre may enter the ZTL, once authorised, only to load and unload luggage, for at most 60 minutes, showing a parking disc and the property's pass. The property enters the plate and day of transit in the Comune's web portal, even up to 72 hours afterwards; properties with private parking can authorise the car for the whole stay.

• Disc parking and banned vehicles

  When the ZTL is open, parking in the historic centre is limited to 60 minutes with a parking disc, unless an ordinance says otherwise; on public holidays the time limit does not apply. For the whole period of the ordinance, caravans, trailers and vehicles over 60 quintals laden weight (6 t) are banned from the historic centre.

• Mojano car park: rates and LPG ban

  The Saba car park at Mojano, near Santa Chiara, is open 24 hours with a 2.05 m height limit. From 1 March to 31 December it costs €2 per hour and €18 per day; in January and February €1.50 for each of the first two hours and €14 per day. LPG-powered cars may not enter.

• Porta Nuova: escalators down, LPG limited

  At the Saba car park at Porta Nuova, open 24 hours, the operator reports that the escalators are temporarily out of service (notice online on 19 October 2026). LPG cars with an ECE/UN 67-01 approved system may park only on the above-ground levels, never underground.

• Free car parks and EV charging points

  In Assisi you can park free at the cemetery-area car park (Via Egidio Albornoz), in Piazza Caduti Forze dell'Ordine (except reserved bays) and at the Porta San Giacomo car park; Santa Maria degli Angeli has free areas with a parking disc. For electric cars the Comune's tourism portal lists 7 charging points: 2 in Piazza Caduti Forze dell'Ordine, 1 in Piazza Giovanni Paolo II, 2 in Via Giovanna di Savoia and 2 in Piazza della Porziuncola.

• Umbria airport: exit and bus to Assisi

  Umbria International Airport 'San Francesco d'Assisi' is at Sant'Egidio (Perugia): by car, leave the expressway towards Assisi-Foligno at the 'Ospedalicchio' exit ('Bastia Umbra-Ospedalicchio' when coming from Orte). The Umbria Airlink bus links Assisi station with the airport in about 20 minutes, bus ticket €5.
