Frequently asked questions

What is SmartRents?

A site to search and compare car hire in Italy, started by a car rental company in Monteroni di Lecce (LE). You search by town, airport or station and see offers from nearby rental companies, with price and conditions.

Where do the offers come from?

From SmartRents cars, partner rental agencies and national and international rental companies. Each offer shows who rents the car and where the booking is completed.

Who do I sign the rental contract with?

With the provider of the car you choose. Documents, deposit, minimum age and conditions are the provider's, and you see them before booking.

Is cancellation free?

It depends on the offer: many include free cancellation, shown on the offer itself. For SmartRents cars it is free up to 48 hours before pick-up.

Can I pick up the car at an airport or station?

Yes: many offers are at airports or stations, and each shows its distance from the place you searched. SmartRents cars are picked up at our office in Monteroni di Lecce or delivered to your address in Salento.

What documents do I need?

The provider tells you; usually an ID, a valid driving licence and a card in the driver's name for the deposit. For SmartRents cars a credit or debit card is fine.

What is the minimum age to rent?

It depends on the provider and is shown on the offer. SmartRents cars can be rented from age 18, with a surcharge under 25: +25% from 18 to 20, +10% from 21 to 24.
