• Perimeter ZTL: five gates and access hours

  The perimeter ZTL covers the walled centre except Piazza 40 Martiri, with gates at Porta Castello, Via Cavour, Porta Vittoria, Porta Romana and Via Reposati. From 1 October to 30 April entry is allowed on weekdays 6:00–20:30 (Via Cavour only until 18:00 on the day before a holiday) and on Sundays and holidays 6:00–11:00; from 1 May to 30 September Via Cavour closes at 18:00 on weekdays too. A red 'ZTL ATTIVA' panel means the gate is closed.

• Hotel and B&B guests in the ZTL

  Under the ZTL rules in force since 1 April 2023, guests of accommodation located inside the ZTL may drive in if the property registers the plate, day and time of transit online. Stops are limited to 45 minutes for loading and unloading luggage, and the property is responsible for wrong or missing registrations.

• Paid car park rates

  In 2024 the Comune gave paid parking rates of €1.20 per hour from 8:00 to 20:00 (minimum €0.60 for 30 minutes), plus €5 for 6 hours and €6 for 12 hours. At Piazza 40 Martiri and the Teatro Romano car park, the only ones charging round the clock, the night from 20:00 to 8:00 cost a flat €1.50.

• Public lifts to Piazza Grande and the cathedral

  According to the Comune's page last updated in October 2024, the first public lift runs from Via Baldassini up to Piazza Grande (daily 9:00–19:30) and the second from Via XX Settembre to the Cathedral and Palazzo Ducale (9:00–18:20). Both close on 15 May, the following Sunday and 2 June, the Ceri festival days.

• Motorway exits for Gubbio

  From the north the Comune suggests the Fano exit on the A14 or Arezzo on the A1 (then towards Città di Castello and Gubbio); from the south the Orte exit on the A1, continuing towards Perugia-Cesena to the Gubbio exit, or Ancona Nord on the A14 via Jesi and Fabriano. Perugia 'San Francesco d'Assisi' airport is 45 km away.

• Ceri festival: centre closed, free parking

  For the Ceri festival on 15 May, in 2026 the historic centre was closed to unauthorised vehicles from 16:00 on 14 May to 8:00 on 16 May, with barriers at the gates and the ZTL gates closed. On the days of the Ceri Grandi, Mezzani and Piccoli, paid car parks not affected by bans were free, with extra areas such as the Teatro Romano and San Pietro car parks.

• Tuesday market in Piazza 40 Martiri

  Since 11 August 2026, every Tuesday and on any other weekly-market day, Piazza Quaranta Martiri and Largo di Porta Marmorea are closed to traffic, with no parking and tow-away, from 6:00 to 14:00 (municipal police ordinance no. 217/2026).
