• Pedestrian centre: no cars, 24 hours a day

  An ordinance of 10 June 2026 confirms that in the central pedestrian area (Via del Prione, Corso Cavour, Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza Sant'Agostino and nearby streets) all motor vehicles are banned from driving and parking around the clock, and offending cars are towed. Taxis and chauffeured cars may only pick up and drop off, and never between 16:00 and 20:00 on Via del Prione, Corso Cavour and the adjoining squares.

• Centro-Torretto ZTL: the electronic gates

  Around the pedestrian area lies the 'Centro-Torretto' ZTL, in force 24 hours a day under a 2019 ordinance that the Comune still refers to in 2026: only authorised vehicles may enter. The electronic gates are on Via Fazio, Via Manzoni (corner of Via XX Settembre), Viale Mazzini (corner of Via d'Azeglio), Via Diaz (corner of Viale Italia) and Via Chiodo (corner of Via Persio).

• Park Centro Stazione under La Spezia Centrale

  Beneath the forecourt of La Spezia Centrale station (Piazzale delle Medaglie d'Oro), ATC MP's Park Centro Stazione has 218 spaces on two underground floors and is open 24 hours. From 1 October to 30 April it costs €1.50/h from 8:00 to 20:00 and €1/h at night; from May to September €1.50/h for the first two daytime hours, then €2/h.

• DarmiPark and PalaPark: 12 hours free plus shuttle

  At the DarmiPark (Piazza d'Armi, 319 spaces) and PalaPark (Piazzale Pozzoli, 430 spaces) interchange car parks the first 12 hours are free, then €2/h. Monday to Saturday a free shuttle runs to the centre from 6:30 (PalaPark) or 7:00 (DarmiPark) until 20:00, and the parking ticket serves as the bus ticket.

• San Giuseppe fair: ZTL suspended, free shuttles

  For the San Giuseppe fair, 18–20 March in 2026, the ZTL was suspended from 10:00 on 17 March to 10:00 on 21 March, while temporary bans and one-way systems applied in the centre. The Comune urged drivers to use the Pala Park and Darmi Park interchange car parks, linked by two free shuttle lines until 21:00.

• From the A12 and A15: La Spezia exit, then link road

  From both the A12 and the A15, leave at the La Spezia toll exit, then follow the motorway link road and Via Carducci to the centre. The nearest airports listed by the Comune's tourism portal are Pisa (80 km) and Genoa (113 km).

• Cinque Terre by train from La Spezia

  To visit the Cinque Terre, the National Park recommends the train: La Spezia is the terminus on the Pisa–Genoa line, and local trains stop at Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. The Cinque Terre Train Card can be used starting from La Spezia or Levanto.
