• ZTL: four cameras and a green/red light

  Merano's central ZTLs are monitored by cameras at Ponte della Posta (Ponte Nazionale), at the Corso Libertà superiore/Piazza Teatro junction, in Via Galilei and in Via Monte San Zeno (Porta Passiria). A display on the pole shows whether the gate is active: green means entry is allowed, red means authorised vehicles only.

• ZTL permit: apply 48 working hours ahead

  A ZTL transit permit should normally be requested at least 48 working hours in advance, Monday to Friday at the local police permit desk or by email ([email protected]). For urgent reasons, entry can also be justified afterwards, within 48 hours, with documents.

• Getting there: A22 at Bolzano Sud, then the MeBo

  By car, leave the A22 Brenner motorway at Bolzano Sud and continue on the Merano–Bolzano expressway (MeBo), exiting at Merano Maia Bassa/Marlengo or Merano Centro. For central car parks, follow the signs showing free spaces.

  Piazzale Prader is a free car park almost every day: on Tuesdays part of it is closed to parking for the small weekly market, and on Fridays the whole area for the main market. In the blue bays the maximum stay is 3 hours.
