• ZTL Centro Storico and Tridente hours

  ZTL Centro Storico: no unauthorised vehicles Mon–Fri 6:30–18:00 and Sat 14:00–18:00, plus Fri and Sat nights 23:00–3:00 (not in August); holidays excluded. Tridente (A1): Mon–Fri 6:30–19:00, Sat 10:00–19:00. Taxis and cars with driver (NCC) are exempt; rental cars are not.

• Trastevere and other night ZTLs

  Trastevere ZTL: Mon–Sat 6:30–10:00; at night Fri and Sat 21:30–3:00, also Wed and Thu from May to October, with a 30 km/h limit. San Lorenzo has the same night hours; Testaccio's runs Fri and Sat 23:00–3:00. Night ZTLs are off in August.

• Electric cars now need a ZTL permit

  Since 1 July 2026 fully electric and hydrogen cars also need a permit to enter and drive in Rome's ZTLs: low emissions no longer mean free access. Car sharing, taxis and chauffeured hire cars (NCC) remain exempt.

• 30 km/h across the historic centre

  Since 15 January 2026 the speed limit is 30 km/h on all streets inside the daytime ZTL Centro perimeter, including main roads such as Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Via del Teatro Marcello and the Traforo tunnel.

• Ecological Sundays in the Fascia Verde

  Between November and March, five 'ecological Sundays' bring a traffic ban inside the Fascia Verde low-emission zone. In 2026/27: 15 Nov and 6 Dec 2026, 24 Jan, 21 Feb and 21 Mar 2027. Vehicles, exemptions and hours are set by ordinance before each date.

• Park-and-ride at metro and rail stations

  About 35 park-and-ride car parks at metro lines A, B and C, suburban rail stations and bus terminals let you leave the car and continue by public transport. 2026 rates: €1.50 for 12 consecutive hours, €2.50 for 16.
