• ZTL in force 24/7, split into six sectors

  Siena's ZTL applies every day from 0:00 to 24:00: entry, driving and parking are banned for unauthorised vehicles, and the gates are electronically monitored. It is split into 6 sectors with separate entries and exits and includes Zone A and the largely pedestrian historic Zone Y, where parking is always banned.

• Hotel guests in the ZTL: two 45-minute entries

  Hotels and other accommodation based in the ZTL register the guest's plate online (with name, guest registration form number and arrival/departure times) within 2 days of the transit: 2 entries a day of up to 45 minutes each are allowed, cars only, by the shortest route. Stopping is allowed only to load and unload luggage, with the reservation confirmation and a parking disc on display; properties with an authorised courtyard or garage have no limit on registrations, up to their number of spaces.

• Temporary ZTL permits: 30 minutes to 3 days

  Drivers without a permit can get a temporary one from Si.Ge.Ri.Co., which issues them on behalf of the Comune: 30 minutes free (private individuals only, one car), 60 minutes €5, one day €10, two or three days €20. Online requests are handled Monday to Friday 8:15–12:45 and 14:00–16:30, with a reply within 2 hours; the offices are at Via di Fontebranda 77 and Viale Toselli 8/10.

• Multi-storey car parks: the rates

  At the Il Campo, Il Duomo, San Francesco and Santa Caterina car parks you pay €2 an hour, €35 a day, €85 for three days and €140 a week of continuous parking, with a “Hotel” rate capped at €25 a day. Cheaper options are Stadio-Fortezza (€2 an hour from 7:00 to 20:00, €26 a day) and the Stazione car park (€0.50 for the first hour, €2 beyond the second hour and for the whole day).

• From the Siena Sud exit to the Il Campo car park

  The Il Campo car park, on Via di Fontanella inside Porta Tufi and close to Piazza del Campo, is a few minutes from the Siena Sud exit of the ring road. It has 4 floors and 525 spaces, a 2.05 m height limit, and is open 24 hours a day.

• From Santa Caterina to the centre by escalator

  From the Santa Caterina multi-storey car park on Via Esterna di Fontebranda, the Costone escalator is the quickest way to Piazza del Campo and Piazza del Duomo: twelve flights of escalators climb 35 metres. It starts 150 m from the car park, ends on Via di Valle Piatta, 150 m from the cathedral, and is open 24 hours a day.

• Palio dell'Assunta 2025: extra buses from car parks

  On 16 August 2025, the day of the Palio dell'Assunta, extra buses every 15 minutes were scheduled from the Due Ponti car park towards Porta Romana and from the Tufi car park towards Coroncina, from 15:40 to 18:40. After the dress rehearsal on the 15th and the Palio on the 16th, line 131 to Florence from Via Tozzi was also stepped up.
