• Historic-centre ZTL: six camera gates

  The historic-centre ZTL is enforced by 6 plate-reading cameras at the gates of Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Via Carlo Toraldo, Via Indipendenza, Via Libertà (junction with Via Piave), Via Carmine (corner of Via del Soccorso) and Marina Vescovado (junction with Via Lungomare).

• Gates active 24/7, with three summer exceptions

  The gates are active 24 hours a day all year. From 1 June to 1 November the exceptions are Via Libertà and Marina Vescovado, monitored only 19:00–6:00, and Via Carmine, monitored 20:00–6:00.

• Hotel and B&B guests in the ZTL

  Accommodation inside the ZTL can let guests’ cars in only to load and unload luggage, sending the plate, home town and length of stay within 48 hours of arrival. Guests arriving without a reservation must make sure the property sends their details in time, or they may be fined.

• Type V day permit, within 48 hours

  Anyone who needs to enter the ZTL for reasons not covered by the other categories can ask the Polizia Locale for a type V day permit, before driving in or within 48 hours at the latest, giving the plate and attaching proof of payment of the fee. It is valid until midnight of the authorised day.

• Corso Vittorio Emanuele gate: no new permits

  Under mayoral order no. 4 of 15 June 2026, the Comune no longer issues new permits for regular entry or exit through the Corso Vittorio Emanuele gate; only emergency vehicles, police, essential public services and vehicles too large for the other routes remain allowed.

• No swimwear or bare chests in town

  A mayoral order of 2 July 2026 bans walking or standing around bare-chested, in swimwear or barefoot in Tropea’s urban area, beaches excluded. Fines range from €125 to €500.
